Supporting Regional Partners to Promote Equality through Procurement
Goss Consultancy Limited (GCL) is delighted to be supporting the Institute for Competition & Procurement Studies (ICPS) at Bangor University, Dublin City University and the Irish Institute for Purchasing and Materials Management in a 3.7 million Euro, 41 month, 'Winning in Tendering' project to transform the public tendering experience of Small Indigenous Suppliers in Ireland and Wales.
At the heart of Winning in Tendering is the understanding that promoting equality is essential to achieving the project's wider aim to enhance the regional competitiveness of Wales and Ireland by opening up public sector procurement opportunities to all businesses.
In addition to building equality into the heart of the project's management, GCL will look for ways to help Winning in Tendering support public sector buyers to:
- Deliver on their legal duties to promote equality through procurement.
- Embed equality into procurement strategies and policies.
- Deliver value for money by designing services that meet all users' needs.
- Ensure procurement opportunities are accessible to minority led businesses.
- Build relevant equality measures into tenders at all appropriate stages.
- Build the capacity of minority led businesses to compete.
- Tackle more entrenched barriers to minority business success. (09/10)
- Understand the business case for supplier diversity.
In addition to the above GCL will also suggest ways to assist public sector suppliers to:
- Prepare for the public sector buyers' equality requirements.
- Reap the many benefits of being good at promoting equality including innovation.
- Meet the needs of a diverse range of potential and existing customers.
