Course Objectives
By the end of the session, delegates will have:
- A greater understanding of the importance of communicating effectively with disabled people.
- A greater understanding of the law relating to disability and communications.
- An overview of accessible formats, involving disabled people in developing and delivering effective communications, and representing and talking about disability appropriately.
About the Trainer
Agnes Fletcher combines expert knowledge of equality law with many years' experience as a communications professional. She has a Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and is a well-known expert on disability equality, with a track record of 20 years working in the public and voluntary sector.
Agnes was previously Director of Policy and Communications at the Disability Rights Commission, where she worked for seven years. She is currently Vice-Chair of the disability network Radar, a member of the Government's Disability Equality Delivery Board and provides training on inclusive communications to professionals across Government departments and agencies on behalf of the Office for Disability Issues.
